Consider donating to our giving tree this holiday!

Hi there,

Do you remember me? I’m Gator. You might have seen my profile on the Boston Terrier Rescue of Canada (BTRC) website for a few months back in 2013. It took a while but I finally found my way home.

I’m so happy that Margot Arsenault, President of BTRC, asked me to write a little note to tell you my story.

I can’t thank you enough for everything you and the other donors and volunteers to BTRC did for me. Before I could find my forever home, I had to see the vet for a check-up. There was a lot to do – I was over eight years old and had never seen a vet. I got some shots, was neutered and we won’t talk about my dental work. Let’s just say, my pearly whites are few and very far between.

None of it mattered to my mama and papa. They saw my picture and fell in love.

And when they found me, I was ready. I was ready to go home because of you and your support of BTRC.

Did you know that, on average, BTRC spends $750 vetting each dog that comes into their care? These costs are paid for through donations from people like you.

This year alone, BTRC has spent over $61,000.00 on vet bills for Boston Terriers and terrier mixes just like me.

That’s a lot of money. I sometime think it should be used to buy treats for me (did I mention that I’m always hungry?!) But, I’m glad that common sense prevails and that BTRC spends the money they raise making sure all the dogs in care are all ready for their forever homes.

BTRC has been operating since the 90’s, so there are lots of us with good stories to tell. Scarlett, Tex, Bruin, and Ruby are some of the recent ones. You might also remember DropKick and Georgie, both of whom required very extensive treatment before they were ready to find their forever homes.

There are more dogs you never hear about – they’re adopted by loving families before they need to be featured on the website.

Every time my papa tells me about another little pup available, I hold my breath. Most of us haven’t had an easy life but I know that in the care of BTRC and the loving arms of their foster parents that the best possible life they can dream about is just around the corner.

It is only possible because of you and your compassion. BTRC doesn’t want to turn any dog away because they can’t afford the vet costs. They won’t have to if you decide to make your donation today.

Will you join me along with my mama and papa, help BTRC reach their goal of raising $5000 this holiday season?

You can hang a candy cane on the holiday tree for $15, place a medium red box under the tree for $50, or a put a nutcracker on the mantelpiece with a donation of $250. The choice is yours and all gifts receive a charitable tax receipt.

I promise you that your generosity will make a difference to those waiting to find their forever homes. It sure made a difference to me while I waited for my mama and papa.

Thank you for listening to my story and for your compassion.

Boston kisses and snuggles,
Gator
