Buster
our Featured Boston ![]() Buster is a ten year old, 25lb, senior Boston Terrier. His owner recently entered an assisted living facility and was not able to take his dog with him. As a result, Buster was surrendered to Boston Terrier Rescue Canada. Buster was a cherished member of his family since he was a puppy and when he first entered foster care he seemed lost and confused about the sudden changes in his life. For over a week Buster was incredibly depressed and appeared to shut down emotionally and physically. Despite a difficult adjustment period, he has settled into a new routine, accepted reality, and is now ready to move on with life. What Buster really needs now is a forever home where he can settle in and comfortably live out his remaining years. Once comfortable in his new surroundings and with new people, Buster is a snugly dog who gives great affection and expresses his appreciation through his eyes and his actions. A new home should be prepared for the possibility of a transition period of about a week where Buster may again shut down and become a bit on the ornery side. Perseverance with Buster is well worth it, and this gentle old soul will shine through in no time. Buster's first ten years were spent eating people food from the table with his owner. Since entering foster care Buster has been transitioned to regular dog food and seems to enjoy it. However, Buster has shown some resource guarding issues with food that likely stem from a lifetime of being fed from the table. Buster is a calm dog in good health who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. He has recently had dental work done to clean his teeth and freshen his breath. He would make an excellent companion for a retired person through our Senior-to-Senior program or someone who would simply enjoy the company of a quieter dog who is not overly active. Buster behaves very well on leash and enjoys walks in the neighbourhood. While in foster care he has demonstrated that he would be fine in a home with a cat, but would probably prefer if he were the only dog in the house. If you think Buster would be a good match for your family, the first step is the adoption application, available for download. Although we are pleased to answer specific questions about our rescued dogs, we cannot proceed until we have your application in hand. BEFORE YOU APPLY...we ask that you carefully read the general information about our adoption policies available on our website (including home visit requirements and adoption fees), and also that you be sure you meet the specific requirements for the Boston you are interested in adopting. PLEASE NOTE: We do not ship our dogs -- Buster is currently being fostered in Toronto, Ontario BUSTER is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered. ![]() |
