Hank’s Adoption Anniversary

An adoption update from Hank’s forever family!

It’s hard to believe that next month we will celebrate our four year adoption anniversary with our boy Hank also known as “Hank the tank”, “Doodle”, “Dude”, and “Hanky Panky”, just to name a few.

Our family had been considering adding a second dog for some time and the day that I saw Hank’s profile on Petfinder.com, I fell in LOVE. His big ears and huge smile won me over. We sent in our adoption application for this adorable French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix and the rest is history. I made the trip to London to meet with Hank’s foster mom and that day we welcomed him into our home.

Adopting Hank has come with its share of challenges but we made a commitment to him that we would be his forever home and would work on anything needed to make the transition. Hank arrived with some behavioural issues and allergies. With the guidance of a trainer and help from some rescue friends we have made marked improvements. His allergies are kept in check with a balanced raw diet that I prepare at home and an overall natural approach to his health care. He has really come around in all areas.

Hank has blossomed into a very comical boy. He is a lean and sturdy dog and serves as the protector of the home… he seems to think that it is his duty to stay on alert to the comings and goings of the outside world, and as such, squirrels are not permitted in our yard now!! We like to joke and say that he is a part of the neighbourhood watch as nothing seems to get past him. He adjusted well to the rules of the home and although at times has decided to challenge us, we continue to reinforce his training with proper boundaries and rules, balanced out with a good exercise routine and lots of cuddle time.

Hank has gone on to become somewhat of a poster boy in his new life with us, having attended a couple of product photo shoots for my growing dog treat business and being extremely busy taste testing all of the goodies that Spoiled Pups Cookie Co. creates… he is one spoiled pup to say the least, hence the name of the business. Hank and Stella inspire me every day to keep up the good work.

Hank truly has filled our hearts and home since arriving almost 4 years ago. He is full of life and spunk and always makes us laugh. He will grow old and grumpy alongside his fur sister, Stella and his people. We love him.

Sincerely,
Tonya Guillemette & Mike Shea
