Mari & Roxy Update!

You did it!

Thank you to everyone who made a donation to the fundraising campaign for Mari and Roxy. You can read their story hereWe reached our goal of $4,000 thanks to an incredibly generous gift of $1,000, lots of $25 and under gifts (which add up quickly), and the many people who signed up to be monthly donors. We think all of you are incredible.

We’d also like to share a special story from Steve, one of volunteers who helped these girls. He said,

“Back in February, I saw the request for funds to help out Mari and Roxy, and as a result Kemptville Pet Valu donated $500 towards their care.

Today, a lovely customer came into the store with two older, yet completely adorable, female Bostons. As luck, and coincidence, would have it, it was Mari and Roxy with their foster mom!

While it is always nice to meet BTRC fosters and alumni, it shocked the pants off me to see these two girls that we’d just helped out – and shopping in our store no less! My boy Rhufus was on hand to make sure we hosted an impromptu Boston Tea Party to the delight of other shoppers.

They were nearly impossible to get a photo of because they were so excited about the treats I was feeding them.

Great job everyone! These two dogs are absolutely wonderful, and while I don’t know their back story, I know it was nothing short of heroics that saved them from whatever path they were on before coming into BTRC care.”

We also say great job! Because of you, Mari and Roxy received the care they needed.

We’re also so very grateful to Kim Holden and the staff at Bedrock Kennels for allowing these two girls to stay together during their time in foster care. Now their surgeries and final vetting is complete, they are safely tucked away together in their forever home and will no doubt stop by Kemptville Pet Valu again to see their new friends!

Thank you again – your compassion and generosity makes the rescue work we do all worthwhile.
