Run for Rescue – Fitness, Fun & Fundraising!

As members of a volunteer-run as well as fundraising and donation reliant charity, we are always looking for new and inventive ways to fundraise. Last year, one of our members who ran as a hobby, decided to join a local race and found out it allowed groups of runners to participate on behalf of a charity. This year marks the 2nd year Boston Terrier Rescue Canada members will be participating in the Canada Running Series Yonge Street 10K Run/Walk. In 2012, we had a small team of 5 with 3 runners, 2 walkers, and one mascot!

This year, we have already recruited a team of 13 runners and walkers and are eager to accept more participants. This particular race is a really great event with thousands of participants running down a closed-off Yonge Street – a major road in downtown Toronto. Because the race is almost all downhill, it is billed as the fastest, and easiest 10K; so new runners/walkers need not be intimidated! This is a way to not only fundraise for the charity we love, but also do something positive for your own health and get active!

Last year, our modest team of Boston Terrier Rescue Canada runners managed to raise over $2,000 for the furry little friends in our care. With such a big team for our run this spring, we hope to blow that number out of the water!

If you would like to participate as a runner or walker (or cheerleader!) in this year’s race on Sunday April 21st, 2013 in Toronto, please contact btrc.fostering@gmail.com for more information.

If you would like to sponsor our runners, thanks! It is easy to donate online at our Canada Helps page. We welcome donations of any size, and as always, any donation over $20 will be eligible for a tax receipt.

Thank you – From the Boston Terrier Rescue Canada Race team!
