Adopted February 2008 ![]() Maxwell Adopted February 2008 About a year ago, I decided to get myself on a waiting list for adopting a Boston Terrier. It had been a year since my 17 year old Boston, Bud had passed away. We had a second dog, Pebbles who is a Boston/British Bull Dog cross. I was used to having the two dogs running around and I missed Bud. No dog would replace him of course, but I still thought it would be nice for Pebbles to have a buddy to play with. I think she missed Bud too. Pebbles is a very sweet natured dog and has always been easy to get along with. However, she is truly my husband`s dog. She is very attached to him. I thought it might be nice to have one who would cuddle with me, too! So I thought adopting a dog, thereby saving it`s life was the answer. Boston Terriers are one of my favourite breed of dogs, so I turned to BTCCR. After about a year, I got a response saying that there was a dog available. I was so excited! However, this was just after having had surgery myself, and another dog with separation anxiety problems was previously scooped up, so I tried not to get my hopes up. Maxwell has now been with us for approximately two weeks. He is the loudest snoring dog I have ever had and loves to eat! He was great on the Van ride home, all the way from Brampton to Kingston. The two dogs were introduced immediately and took to each other right away. He is a funny clumsy 2 year old dog who is so affectionate and loves to cuddle, especially with me! Finally, I get some attention! Sure he plays and loves my two teenaged boys, but he loves the Mamma more! That is just fine with me! Max moved into the family and into our hearts with no problems at all. He will be very happy in his forever home. We have a great big yard for him to run around in and besides Pebbles, there are two Shitsus next door, who he just loves to play with. At first he slept in his bed, but now he sleeps with us and Pebbles! It`s a little crowded at times, but he keeps us warm. He is very loved and very spoiled. Because he like to eat his food, too fast, we feed him on a cookie sheet and so far he knows not to go to Pebbles food bowl. But he does test the issue, so she is sure to put him in his place. They play well together and are now sleeping together. They even give each other sloppy kisses! They walk well on the leash together and Maxwell is also very verbal about being let out. He has not had any accidents so far, in the house. My husband John, works nights and I work during the day and the kids are always in and out, so there is always someone home. It has been fun watching him prance around in the snow, but I can`t wait till summer and see how he will enjoy the cottage and the shade out back in our big yard. He`s full of energy, so he`ll love it! Nancy, his Foster Mom, and some others at BTTCR told us he was rambunctious and a little over weight, when he first arrived. You would never know that now. Although I can see how his energetic personality might be a burden on the elderly couple who owned him previously. He fits in with us perfectly, so I thank everyone involved who took care of our precious new family member before he arrived home with us. Thanks again, Lesa Branton ![]() Baxter Adopted December 2007 Hi, my name is Baxter and I have been living at my new forever home since the beginning of December. I made myself right at home as soon as I arrived… the basket of toys was one of my first stops and then once I found a favorite, I made myself comfortable in the cat bed! I love sleeping in front of the fireplace! Unless of course there’s someone to snuggle… I love snuggles even more! I’m still a little uncomfortable staying home by myself but I have gotten ok with a couple hours here or there… my mommy and daddy don’t leave me home very often so its ok once in a while I guess. I was a little bit skinny when I first moved in and the vet told me that I should gain a couple pounds. With my new yummy raw food I’m now sitting at what I’m told is the perfect weight for me… but I think everything about me is PERFECT! My buddy Draco likes to play so we have lots of fun together especially running through the snow piles in the back yard right after it snows! Sometimes we lose our toys in the snow, but mommy always rescues them for us so we can keep playing. Sometimes it gets a little bit hectic when Draco and I try to play with the cats… we need teamwork to outsmart them… sometimes Draco gets distracted by toys or snacks and they decide to put the run on us! Sometimes I cuddle the cats though… when nobody is watching of course because I wouldn’t want anyone to know that cats are good snugglers. They’re nice and warm and soft. Thank you to my rescuers and foster mom for being so great and finding me a happy home! Doggie kisses! BAXTER Main Page |
