ADOPTED: Ella

Adopted November 18, 2014

Perked ears at attention, bright expression alert, and broad nose sniffing, Ella is ever ready for whatever comes her way. With her past unknown, she is being taught, within the safety and security of her foster home, how to be a DOG for the first time in her life.

Blessed with a beautiful and happy disposition, she gets along well with her two foster siblings, learning what fun it is to play chase with them and to play with toys on her own.

Still very cautious around people and still not used to being touched, Ella has slowly been displaying stronger signs of respect and trust. She comes when called, and will follow her fosters from room to room, settling down once everyone else has. She likes her crate, going in and out of it during the day, and sleeping inside it all night with the door closed.

She clearly prefers an atmosphere of calm and quiet, and because she remains somewhat skittish, any sudden movements or loud noises will have her retreating to her crate until she realizes it is safe to come out again.

Highly food and treat motivated, this bright Boston beauty knows that good performances, such as perfecting her outdoor pottying skills, bring good things. Among her favourite treats are: frozen strawberries or banana slices, frozen peanut butter and yogurt treats, and homemade peanut butter dog cookies.

She has been thriving on a fixed routine, clearly feeling more secure within its boundaries, and because she does not like being leashed, she uses her fosters’ large fenced yard to exercise, play and potty.

Because Ella is an excellent student, taking puppy steps on the way to becoming a true adult, she will ultimately make some lucky, loving and patient adopter the most wonderful companion. Toward this end, Ella would blossom in a home with a securely fenced yard, where someone is there most of the time to encourage and reward her, and a resident dog from whom she can learn to be the best doggy Ella she can be.
