ADOPTED: Libby

Adopted November 13, 2015

If you’re only as old as you feel, then Libby is younger than springtime, with the spring in her step to prove it. From the tops of her huge, oyster shaped ears to the tip of her tiny Boston tail she is, quite simply, luscious.

A genuine love bug, she loves everyone she meets, wiggling and bouncing to encourage you to stroke her head. Stop and she’ll unabashedly paw you for more. Being a true people pet, her preferred place to be is with her people as she lies contentedly beside her foster mom on the couch or at her feet while she’s working.

Libby loves going for walks, bouncing at the sight of her leash, and she remains excited until she reaches the curb, where she calms down and walks well from then on. She also knows basic commands (sit, paw, down, come, gentle and wait) and readily allows her foster mom to brush and bathe her, clean her ears and wipe her paws after a rainy walk. Although a fairly laid back lady, she does have little play spurts, bringing her ball over and barking to encourage you to play. Sit on the floor with her, and she will bark excitedly while doing zoomies. Occasionally, this well-mannered miss forgets her manners, whining and drooling if she waits “too long” for her beloved peanut butter treats, and she often needs reminding about taking them gently from your hand.

One of her quirks when alone is rummaging through the garbage, eating tissues, and bringing her booty back to her crate. But she politely draws the line at her fosters’ belongings and can remain, content, in her crate for up to 8 hours, and will sleep there with the door open in their room at night. Since she’s so attached to her humans, she barks when they first leave but will settle back down fairly quickly.

To keep lovely Libby contented fur-ever, she’s best suited to a home with someone there much of the time, who is mindful of her fear at initially being left alone, with or without another pet for company, and a large, comfy crate to call hers.
