ADOPTED: Saffee

Adopted January 19, 2015

Imagine being greeted, morning, noon and night by those large eyes, that smiling mouth, and a supply of sweet, happy kisses. The paramount people pet, Saffee is anywhere and everywhere her humans are, whether it’s curled up on the floor at their feet, stretched out on the sofa beside them or lounging languidly across their laps.

She may be the supreme snuggler of all time, especially at bedtime, but she is equally exuberant, energetic and athletic, playing fetch, chasing after squirrels and running around the yard with the stamina of a Boston half her age. Gentle and even-tempered, she has proven to be a wonderful companion for her foster family’s two young daughters (aged 6 and 8).

Because Saffee LOVES her walks (she will “vocalize” excitedly at the sight of the leash), and does well with a harness and retractable leash, the girls take turns walking her easily and without incident. She has even been learning to “sit” and “wait” before crossing the street. Although curious about the other dogs they pass, she may whine as if to say “let’s stop and play”, but she never barks at them and just keeps on walking.

As happy as Saffee is to play ball with someone, she’s just as happy to play by herself, pushing her ball around with her nose or gleefully shaking her favourite frog and octopus toys as if they were little rag dolls. An excellent traveler, she loves going for rides in the car, and, as an unabashed sun worshipper, she can either be found soaking up rays in the backyard or lying down in front of a sunny window or door.

Highly treat motivated, she is easy to train, quickly picking up commands and quick to realize that a firm “uh-uh” means a definite “no.” Both house and crate trained, she is used to being crated all day while her foster family is away, then greeting them excitedly with her special Saffee kisses upon their return. Now she is eager to spread her beautiful Boston wings and share her sweet smile and even sweeter kisses with a loving family – this time forever.
