ADOPTED: Stella

Adopted October 10, 2015

Is it her impish under bite or her deep, brindled markings that make Stella the standout she is? Choose one or both and you won’t be wrong.

Sweet and playful, energetic and strong willed, she’s a study in contrasts, but is for the most part, most loving. Highly intelligent and very respectful, Stella listens well to basic commands and loves to please. She also loves playing with her wide assortment of hardy toys, enjoys her walks on the trails, and is an excellent swimmer. But she’s also extremely inquisitive, and because her nose often leads her toward misadventures, only a fully fenced-in yard keeps her wondering and wandering in check.

People fall head over heels with her at first sight, and she basks in the attention of adults and teenagers alike, returning their adulation with kisses and cuddles. Young children, however, are another matter, as she appears uncertain around them.

Sometimes feisty when first introduced to other dogs, provided introductions are slow, patient and proper, she will slowly calm down and then eagerly play her new best friend. She is also somewhat insecure in new situations, but again, with patience and gentleness, she becomes less fearful and grows more confident.

Fully crate and housetrained, and only an occasional barker (usually directed at a neighbour), Stella is now eager to find a forever home with gently firm and patient people, capable of providing her with the active but stable environment she needs, coupled with all the love in the world.
