With summer officially in full swing, Boston Terrier Rescue Canada (BTRC) is as busy as ever attending and planning fundraising events across the country to support the dogs in our program.
Just last month was Woofstock, a weekend that has quickly become our largest fundraising event of the year. The weather was great and though we were in a different location than in years past, we were thrilled to see so many Boston Terriers pulling their people to our booth for a head scratch and a dip in the pool!
Each year, a feature at Woofstock is the K9 Rescue Me Walk-a-Thon. It’s an opportunity for us to do something with our pooches that they love (walkies!) and doing something kind for the community. BTRC is incredibly grateful for everyone who offered up their time to walk in our honour and raise funds for the dogs in our care. As many of you already know, each year we award a trophy to the person who raises the most funds. This year, we send our congratulations and gratitude once again to Carol Magister and her Boston Terriers Jasper and Molly for keeping their streak alive!
Thanks to the generosity and kindness of our great supporters, an incredible $10,250.50 was raised for the dogs in our care during Woofstock!
June also brought us to Toronto’s 33rd annual Pride celebration. It was a weekend filled with love, laughs and of course, plenty of rainbows! We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with incredible people, many who were away from home and missing their own dogs. Fortunately, our adorable BT ambassadors kept everyone smiling all weekend and helped us to raise $1,143.90!
Be sure to mark your calendars next year for World Pride, the first ever to be held in North America. It will be bigger, better and more colourful than ever and we cannot wait to be a part of this fantastic event!
As you can imagine, the funds raised at our summer events play an integral role in our annual budget and what has been raised so far equates to 17 dogs receiving treatment to prepare them for adoption. What a fantastic achievement!
On behalf of the volunteers of Boston Terrier Rescue Canada as well as the dogs we’re able to save, a heartfelt “Thank You!” to everyone for the continued support. We couldn’t do this without each and every one of you and we can’t wait to see you at our next event.
