Bella Two was adopted January 2, 2023

December Update

Bella-2 has been with us for a couple of months now. In that time, she’s had a full check-up, all routine vetting such as vaccinations completed, and has been spayed. She also had a dental and we’re giving her a gold star because she only needed one tooth extraction. (A dental bill that comes in under the estimate is a holiday gift for sure!)

If you recall, Bella-2 was surrendered to rescue because she had severe separation anxiety. Leaving her for extended periods of time is still a work in progress, but aside from her stress at being alone, Bella-2 is a sweet, loving and playful girl.

Recently her foster mom hasn’t been feeling well, and tells us that nurse Bella has been a great comfort to her while sick. Definitely putting Bella-2 on Santa’s nice list. Get well soon foster mom!

Welcome to Bella Two!

Bella Two you ask? Well, we actually have a pair of Bellas coming into rescue this October, so we named them One and Two. Bella Two just happened to arrive first! 😉

This pretty Bella, who just turned 5 on September 17, is an active, playful, and friendly girl! Bella was surrendered to BTRC as her family was having a difficult time managing her separation anxiety. Separation anxiety is triggered when dogs become unduly upset at any separation from their people. When left alone, Bella would show her distress by being destructive. She would also attempt to escape a crate or barrier, and the worry was she would harm herself.

Separate anxiety requires a desensitization and counterconditioning program so that Bella can gradually become accustomed to being alone. We are grateful to her foster family for making this commitment to help Bella become the best family companion she can be!

Bella is being fostered in the Edmonton area of Alberta and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
