Handsome gentleman seeks loving companion for life-long relationship

Bentley has had a couple of previous relationships in his six years and now wants to settle down with his forever person. Generally a laid-back, low-key kinda guy, he’s looking for a home where he can enjoy two of his most favourite things – lounging around and being spoiled!

Fully house and crate-trained, there will be no chewed shoes or puppy messes to worry about with this fella. He knows his basic commands too and is remarkably consistent when there’s food involved to help motivate him . Truth is, Bentley is a bit of a “nutritional overachiever”, but he’s been losing weight gradually in foster care, and his energy levels have increased as his physique gets more toned.

Bentley also comes complete with some endearing sound effects – and yes, he’s a snorer!

Bentley LOVES to be with his human. He’s a cuddly, contented companion who enjoys a little bit of play and the chance to do some exploration in the backyard. He also likes short walks, and handles very well on leash… until he sees another dog. Bentley does not care for other canines.

Not all dogs can become social butterflies, but we do think Bentley can learn to make better choices when he sees other dogs on the street. As training is equally important for both dog and person, BTRC will require his adopter to participate in an online course designed especially to improve this behaviour.

A perfect home for Bentley would be in a quiet neighbourhood with minimal foot traffic passing by, a securely fenced back yard, and with a calm and confident person who is willing to keep working on his leash reactivity.

BENTLEY • NEUTERED MALE • FULLY VETTED • 7 YEARS OF AGE • 33 POUNDS • NO OTHER PETS •  OLDER, DOG-SAVVY CHILDREN ONLY – FOSTERED IN NIAGARA REGION, ONTARIO

Note: From the time applications are opened, through the selection and screening process, adoptions can take approximately three weeks to finalize. We thank everyone who takes the time to apply, but only those who best fit each dog’s requirements in a forever home will be contacted.

Welcome Bentley!

Bentley comes to BTRC as a result of a recent move from the country to the city. It’s not been an easy transition for him.

Bentley can be reactive on leash, and with the number of people and strange dogs he now encounters daily, urban life can be quite stressful. As well, his single owner will soon be undergoing surgery that will make it impossible to care for him during a long recovery, so felt it was best for Bentley to come to Rescue to find a new home.

A handsome brindle boy, weighing in at over 30 lbs., we suspect that Bentley may have been enjoying a few too many pandemic snacks, so we’ll work on getting him fit and trim.

Bentley is a new foster so we don’t yet know all his behaviours, habits and quirks first-hand. At this point it’s assumed that he will likely need to be an only child, but as we learn more about him we’ll share with you.

NOTE: Bentley is being fostered in the Niagara Region, Ontario and is not yet ready for adoption. As soon as he is ready to find his forever home, we will open up the applications and let everyone know on social media.
