Hershey was adopted February 8, 2024

We are pleased to announce that Hershey has been adopted and his life is sweeter than ever.

Hershey has become fast friends with his brother Drake who is quite pleased at how skilled Hershey is at the bitey-face game. You will often find the boys laying together in a sun patch or snuggling up next to their humans. Playtime results in a tumble of black and white storming through the home in true Boston form. 😂

We are so happy to hear that Hershey’s forever family is his perfect complement – kind of like Hershey and his kiss. 😉

Here’s Hershey!

Hello, future paw-rent! My name is Hershey, and I’m a charming 18-month-old  Boston Terrier with a heart as sweet as my name. I’ve been staying with my foster family and their two Bostons. They’re all teaching me so much and my foster mom says I learn quickly since I’m such a smart boy.

I’m always eager to please and thrive in a positive, patient environment. I’ve been working on my basic commands and potty training and have even learned to ring the bell to go outside.

Playtime is my favourite! Wrestling with my foster siblings and making those crazy Boston noises is so much fun, but I also like playing tug, tossing around a stuffy and munching on my chewies. I follow my foster dad around wherever he goes – I’m like his shadow. But then again, I can’t get enough of my foster mom either! I rub my whole body against her and it’s like a great massage. Honestly, I just love my humans and try to show them in any way I can.

Even though I’m shy at first, I’ve gotten along with everyone I’ve met. When I think of my perfect home, it’s cozy and filled with love and playfulness. A fenced yard would be a bonus, giving me space to burn off my playful energy. Before it got cold, I would run like crazy with my foster siblings around the yard. I also figured out walking on a leash in no time, both on my own and on a shared double leash.

I really hope I have a doggy brother or sister so they can show me the ropes of what it means to be a dog. I’m doing really well, but still have lots to learn! Any human siblings must be dog-savvy because I’m still learning to share my toys and chewies. Small hands might try and steal my things, and I don’t know how I’d feel about that. In my previous home, there were farm cats outside where I stayed, but I’ve never lived with a cat inside the house.

When it’s time to settle down, I go into my crate and take a nap. I sleep there all night with my cozy blankets and don’t make a peep until the morning. When my parents leave the house, I wait calmly in my crate for them to return. I don’t even bark when I see them come home…but once they let me out, it’s time to play!

The vet says I’m healthy as can be now, even though I was born a little different – something called hypospadias. You see, when I was just a little puppy, I had surgery to fix my urinary tract and connect it to my back end as my boy parts didn’t work correctly. So, when I lift my leg to pee, watch because it now comes out from a different spot than you might expect! I know my forever home won’t mind and will love me all the same. It’s my pawty potty trick!

Hershey is a Potty Training Pro!

BTRC foster Hershey’s has some big news – he’s now fully potty trained! His foster sister, BTRC alum Layla, taught him how to ring a bell to let his humans know when he needs to do his business. It’s not surprising that Hershey feels like the big man on the BTRC campus. In fact, his toy of choice is now a jumbo donut stuffy, suitable for a big boy like him! 😂

Yes, Hershey, you are a big boy, and we’re so proud of you!

Hershey is being fostered in Edmonton, AB and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.

SANTAAAAA!!!

My foster brother and sister, Norman and Layla, told me ’bout you and I’m super duper excited! You visit all the dogs and bring ’em presents? AND I can ask you for anything?

Well Santa, can I have all the toys? Like not just a few, but like all the toys? Is that allowed? I also like chewies. Oh, and can foster mommy and daddy play with me all day? Like I mean ALLLL DAYYYY, Santa. Cuddles too – keep those coming.

Norman and Layla say that you have this list and I gotta make sure I’m “nice” and not “naughty.” Do you make exceptions, Santa? I mean I’m just a kid and sometimes I can be a paw-full. That’s okay right? Can you still bring me all the toys?

I’m not supposed to tell you, but Norman and Layla said they are going to hide behind the Christmas Tree so they can sneak a peek at you when you come. Wait, will tattle-tailing put me on the “naughty” list? K never mind – forget I said that.

Hugs and Kisses,

Hershey

Hello Hershey!

This one-year-old boy was surrendered because his owner was moving and unable to take Hershey along.

Hershey is having fun exploring his foster home for interesting things like balls and chews. He gets along with his two BT foster siblings and doesn’t understand why they aren’t as enamoured with their toys as he is. His favourite item is a rubber spikey ball and he is quite impressed that it doubles as a body massager. 😂

Described by his foster mom as a “goofy, happy dog,” we look forward to learning more about him as he continues to settle in.

Hershey is being fostered in Edmonton, AB and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
