ADOPTED: Oscula

Oscula was adopted on Oct 9, 2020

UPDATE – Sept 19, 2020 – OSCULA IS UP FOR ADOPTION!

Oscula means kiss in Latin and I am full of kisses! I am a little princess and when you see my big ears, long legs and wide eyes, you will fall in love and kiss me back.

I enjoy the company of other playful and friendly dogs and I am comfortable with children who are calm with me. *I would really love to have another friend to play with if it’s in the stars!

I will take my time to get to know you, but once I do, I will love you every day. I just need a bit of time to trust everyone.

I am crate trained, house trained and I know my basic commands. I just choose to listen to them when I want to.

I will love to sit with you on the chair or couch and just gaze into your eyes (after I give you your kisses of course!)

I enjoy the backyard and basking in the sunshine, but will happily curl up on a doggie bed and rest and chill for hours.

I get really, really excited for tug of war and absolutely love my rope toy. I do not want to share it at first, but will when I want someone to join the fun with me.

I will walk slowly on my leash with you, and when you let me walk by myself, I will never go to far.

I am a love bug and once I am comfortable, I have love for everybody.

Oscula came into rescue with an ongoing patella injury that needed surgery for correction. She got through the surgery like a star and has had ongoing physio and water/swim therapy to build muscle in the leg for about four months. She will occasionally go on three legs because she became so habituated to it as a compensation during the months of injury before coming into rescue with us. Her new family will need to be sensitive to Oscula’s leg. Although it has been corrected surgically there may be a vulnerability present where it would be best not to do too much with her that would stress that leg until you are confident of her abilities. She is still very young and her new home will need to manage her activity to make sure she is comfortable.

UPDATE – March 8

Quick little update on our foster girl Oscula
Oscula had her patella surgery on Feb 27 and is recovering well. Like most Bostons, she wants to be active but even though it’s not easy, her foster parents are being diligent and ensuring she rests as much as possible in order for her to heal up properly and quickly.  We’re all wishing you a speedy recovery sweet Oscula!!!

UPDATE – Feb 24

Oscula’s surgery went well. She’s going to stay the night at the hospital tonight so they can monitor her, but will be back with her foster parents tomorrow. Will give an update on her recovery soon!

~~~~~~~~
Our sweet foster-girl Oscula is scheduled to have her patella surgery this Thursday Feb 27. Let’s all keep this precious bub in our thoughts.
We want to thank Oscula’s foster parents for taking such good care of her and for their commitment to supporting Oscula through her recovery.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on Oscula’s progress.
Please welcome our newest foster, Oscula  Isn’t she just the sweetest? Oscula and her foster mom and dad are just getting to know each other but what we do know is that she’s 2.5 years old, very friendly and gentle, walks ok on a leash, loves to play, and is house broken. Oscula suffers from allergies and itchy skin and is currently taking anti-inflammatory medication. Her foster mom and dad will help us deduce what the cause of the allergies is by trying an elimination diet. She also unfortunately has a luxating patella (grade 2) and has been limping and will be scheduled for surgery once she’s completed her shutdown period. Please cross your fingers and paws for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. Oscula is currently being fostered in the Kitchener, Ontario area.
Fun fact: The name Oscula is derived from the latin work for KISS
A great way that you can help us help Oscula is by making a donation. It’s estimated it will cost us over $2,000 just to do the patella surgery. Any amount you can contribute will really help.
Thank you, and welcome Oscula! 🥰
