ADOPTED: Sadie

Sadie was adopted on Sept 16, 2020!

UPDATE – May 28

Sadie was able to cool off yesterday evening with a swim in the pool and hanging out on the pool loungers. On days when it is not that hot, she loves spending time in the yard, playing with her foster sister, exploring and chasing squirrels. She also loves going on hikes in the forest behind her foster home. Sadie has shown so much improvement. She will now stop barking at other dogs at the fence when told. With training, there has also been a significant reduction in her screaming at other dogs on our walks. We have also seen huge improvements with her guarding behaviours with food and treats. Positive reinforcement training and no shortage of treats at the foster home. Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to introduce Sadie to other dogs like we would have liked. She was able to meet her foster grandparents’ Boston Terrier on the weekend. She is definitely nervous around other dogs and reacts by growling (like she did when she first met her foster sister). We are not sure but have a feeling that she may have been hurt by the other dogs in her previous household and that this is a protective response. Hopefully, we will have more opportunities for her for positive interactions in the future. Foster Mom managed to successfully clean her ears, but she was not a fan! They continue to work on recall and staying when the door opens, as her former owners mentioned that she was a runner. While Sadie still has some areas to work on, she is a real sweetie and everyone absolutely loves her.

Hey everyone! Let’s all give a very warm welcome to Sadie, a 3 year-old brindle beauty 🥰 Sweet but equally sassy, Sadie is our newest member and came all the way from Barrie to join our group. Originating from a home where she lived with an older Boston (until she passed away 18 months ago), a 15 month Boxer puppy and her littermate sister, Sadie loved her life and her people but was having issues with her sister (common among littermates) and the constant “bickering” between the two became too much for her family to bear so they decided that Sadie would do much better in a home that was less stressful and challenging.

Sadie is now settling into her new foster family in London where Foster Mom reports that she is both a sweetheart and a “cuddle bug”, following her everywhere like a shadow. Using positive reinforcement to work on some of her issues (she is both a bird and squirrel chaser who will “protect” the yard by patrolling diligently looking out for the “enemy”), Foster Mom reports that they are off to a great start! She has already made friends with her new Boston foster sister.

We will keep you posted on sweet Sadie

Did you know that Sadie is the 10th dog to come into our care recently? Each dog needs to be fully health-checked and vetted to get them ready for adoption. These vet bills really add up. Please consider making a small donation to help us help them. https://www.bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/donate/

SADIE IS IN FOSTER CARE AND IS NOT UP FOR ADOPTION YET. Check our facebook page for updates on this cutie.
