Stella is her name and fetch is her game!

Stella, an adorable Boston Terrier and French Bulldog mix, is ready to find her forever home. A world-class ball catcher, Stella dreams of a BFF who shares her love of the game, and who possesses top-notch throwing abilities. She promises not to play keep-away and to bring the ball back to you every single time.

Celebrating her fourth birthday later this month, Stella is the perfect balance of energy and calm. When not playing, she is snoozing, preferably nestled next to someone and covered by a fluffy blanket. As she doesn’t toss and turn and is happy to sleep as long as you do, she’s been granted access to the human bed at night and would love if this could continue. When her foster parents leave the house, Stella will relax in her crate but is trustworthy to be left loose to keep the couch warm for when they return.

Stella has become great friends with her BT foster sister and the resident cat. She loves to play when they show interest, but respects their boundaries when they don’t. Stella recently had a staycation with a BTRC alum and enjoyed the time spent with her new canine pal.

Stella can be wary of strangers, most especially on walks, and will often bark when she encounters someone new. At home, she needs time to warm up to new faces. Once comfortable she is a “love bug” according to her foster mom, and has stolen the hearts of everyone who has met her. Stella previously lived with young children so would be suited to a family with or without kids.

Stella is fully house-trained and rings the bell at the back door when she needs to go out. She has made significant progress with her leash walking manners but needs a family that will commit to keeping her on track with her training.

Stella has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all vaccines. Surrendered because a child in her former family had chronic and severe allergies to animal dander, Stella also suffers from allergies herself – but they are being managed with a careful diet and Cytopoint injections every 4-6 weeks (approximately $124 per shot).

Stella’s foster mom says, “Whoever adopts this young lady will be getting a super sweet, loving and playful dog.”  If you want to be on the receiving end of everything wonderful about Stella –– and your throwing arm is in pretty good shape –– please complete the Adoption Form, found HERE.

Stella is having a staycation!

While her foster mom is away, BTRC foster Stella is hanging with someone you might recognize. Yes, that cute Boston Terrier with the unforgettable smile is our very own BTRC alum Sasha! It didn’t take long for Stella to feel at home, as Sasha has been the perfect host – pointing out the best pee spots in the yard, sharing toys and showing her the snuggliest spots in the house (in bed with the kids).

Most dogs can’t keep up with Sasha, but Stella is giving her a run for her money. Both girls love playing ball together to burn off some energy and agree that cuddles with the humans is a lovely way to end the night. ❤

Great work, Stella – it seems like you’re being a very good girl and a fantastic house guest!

Stella is being fostered in Calgary, AB and is not ready to be considered for adoption.

Stella has been spayed!

Stella had a quiet ride home from the vet and spent her evening snuggled next to her foster mom and BT foster sister, Roxy. She woke up the next morning like nothing happened – except for the fact that she was wearing a bodysuit that she worried wasn’t the most flattering on her Boston-Frenchie physique. 😂

On the training front, Stella’s foster mom has been working on “polite walking” to encourage her not to pull and Stella has already shown improvement! Next in the curriculum is to teach Stella to not bark at strangers.

Inside the home, Stella loves to play fetch and is becoming more playful with her foster sister too. Her foster mom describes her as a “big love bug.” ❤

Introducing our newest sweetheart, Stella!

Three-year-old Stella came into BTRC’s care because her young human brother suffers from extreme allergies to animal dander. Stella was very much-loved by her family and being left with no choice but to surrender her broke their hearts. We promised to take very good care of their special girl.

Though just newly arrived, Stella has already shown that she is sweet and loves to cuddle. On her first evening in her foster home, she jumped up on the couch to snuggle up to her BT foster sister and foster mom.❤ Stella is a Boston-Frenchie mix, but her Boston side has clearly emerged as she is now on a poop-strike because of the snow. 😂

Stella has some vetting coming up, including a spay. There will be more to report after she has had a chance to decompress and get familiar with her new surroundings.

Stella is being fostered in Calgary, AB and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
