READY FOR ADOPTION – TIGER!

Tiger Woods (no, not that one!) is ready to find his forever home.

Described by his foster home as both goofy and sweet, Tiger is a young and energetic Boston Terrier/French bulldog mix who came into rescue in late December. A holiday baby, Tiger celebrated his first birthday on Christmas Eve.

Tiger has learned a lot in his foster home: much from his foster mom, of course, but also from following the lead of his Boston Terrier foster sister. He is much more confident than when he first arrived. He is now fully house trained and is crate trained too, sleeping at night in his own space. He respects that furniture and shoes aren’t toys – and knows that real toys must be shared.

Tiger enjoys his walks, and is pretty good on leash, but if his human companion stops to chit-chat, he will gently remind them it’s time to carry on by nibbling on his leash.

Along with becoming fast friends with his foster sibling, Tiger has got along well with other dogs he has met, as long as they are up for games of chase and puppy wrestling!

Tiger is also friendly with the admittedly cranky cat that shares his foster home, and while he can’t understand why she prefers to miss out on the fun of playing with him, he understands not to pester her.

Tiger has received all necessary vetting including parasite testing, vaccines, neuter, dental and two cherry eye repairs of the same eye. Although there is always a very slight chance the cherry eye could recur, Tiger’s second procedure was performed by a veterinary ophthalmologist to maximize the chances of a permanent fix.

The ideal home for Tiger would be with an active family and another playful canine companion to match his energy level. A home that is open to continued training is always preferred, especially as Tiger is young and eager to learn. Training will not only keep his body and mind active and stimulated, but it’s also a fun and rewarding way to build an even stronger bond with your dog!

Eye of the Tiger

In January, BTRC foster Tiger Woods (Alberta) was neutered and had his cherry eye repaired. Although the surgery to correct cherry eye has an approximate 85-90% success rate, unfortunately Tiger’s repair fell into the small percentage that failed.

On February 24, Tiger had surgery number two. He’s back to the vet for a recheck tomorrow so please send some good thoughts his way. The cost for his second operation, with a generous discount, was $1000 so fingers crossed that all is healing as it should be.

Of course, Tiger’s most pressing concern about the whole thing is getting the a-okay to remove the dreaded cone – it’s really cramping his toy-playing style!

Welcome Tiger!
