Volt

Volt

On Tuesday morning we were alerted to a very sick Boston Terrier at a shelter in Quebec. He had been brought in by his owners who explained that he had been sick for quite some time. The shelter veterinarian did not want to euthanize him without further testing to see if his condition was treatable, but this was beyond the shelter’s capabilities. One of our dedicated volunteers immediately drove to the shelter to pick Volt up and get him to animal emergency.

Bloodwork pointed to kidney disease, but several further diagnostics including more specific tests, x-rays and ultrasound were needed to further pinpoint a diagnosis and a prognosis. Volt would also need round-the-clock hospital care. Of course, none of this comes without substantial cost, but we felt strongly that Volt deserved this chance.

Bolt quickly stole hearts at the hospital and got lots of love and cuddles from staff. At first, there was cause for cautious optimism and we expected that after a week or so in hospital he would be able to move to a foster home. We didn’t know how much quality time he would have, but his foster was looking forward to his arrival and ready to make each day count.

Sadly, despite the best level of care, Volt took a turn for the worse. His body was just not strong enough to go on. Rather than let him suffer, we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

Run free and healthy at The Bridge Volt. We are so sorry we couldn’t save you, but you were a good boy and you mattered. 💔🌈🐾
