BTRC Adoption Process

Hi friends and supporters of BTRC!

We just wanted to send out a notice/reminder about our new ADOPTION PROCESS.
This is of particular interest to those of you who applied and were approved to be on the adoption wait list prior to Dec 1, 2019.

Last fall BTRC went through some changes and an all new board was voted in on Dec 1. With that came some changes and one area that we looked at was the adoption process.

Starting January 1 2020, all new dogs that come into our care and become available for adoption will be posted on our Facebook, Instagram, and website. At the time they’re ready for adoption, the application link on the website will be opened for a set amount of time and prospective adopters can apply for that specific dog during that time. The amount of time the application link will be open will depend on factors such as volume of applicants. If you’re not chosen for the dog you applied for and are interested in another dog that becomes available, you will have to put in a new application for that dog specifically. There will no longer be a wait list / roster of previously approved adoptive homes.

In full transparency, the intent of the new process is to reduce the amount of admin work and time demanded of our volunteers. Rescue fatigue or burnout is real in the rescue community. We are doing everything we can to evenly balance and manage our volunteers’ work load so they can also enjoy their own time with their family and pets. This will help all of us to focus on the dogs in our care and ensure all dogs go to a perfect loving forever home.

If you have any questions at all about this, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
