Announcement regarding COVID-19

With recent events related to the current COVID-19 situation, Boston Terrier Rescue Canada has taken measures to help protect our volunteers during this time and take care of the dogs currently in our care.

BTRC will no longer be accepting dogs unless it is a medical emergency and/or dogs that would otherwise end up in or need to get out of a shelter. We are also stopping all our in-person home visits. Instead, we can utilize technology like FaceTime and Skype, where necessary for all current volunteer applications. Veterinary care is being reduced to emergency only and we will work with our shelter partners and request dogs be fully vetted, we will help with those costs. Dogs will remain in their current foster homes and foster homes are being asked to stock up on at least one month’s worth of food and supplies. Online ordering and delivery are recommended if possible. Our current foster dogs will not be put up for adoption until further notice.

As stated by the Prime Minister, self-isolation and social distancing could remain in effect well into May and June, but there are many unknowns. Many of our planned fundraising events are starting to be cancelled and this is another reason BTRC is no longer accepting intakes, we want to ensure we have the funds to help the dogs currently in our care. We understand this is a difficult time for everyone, but if you are able to help us during this time, please consider making a donation.

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada is grateful for our volunteers, our past and present adopters as well as our community of supporters. Please practice the guidelines set out by the CDC for keeping all of us safe, so we in turn can continue to care for all the dogs that need us.
