Donna was adopted on January 17, 2024.

‘Forever’ looks good on our Darling Donna!

We are pleased to announce that Donna has been adopted and her family is thrilled with their new addition. Donna likes to keep busy wanting to be part of everything that is going on in her home and regularly rewards people with a full face of kisses. This enthusiasm is not just reserved for indoor activities. Her three-year-old BT/Bulldog brother, Elliott, is happy to have a pawtner in crime and the two of them race around the backyard together. Elliott tries to keep up with Donna, but she has proven to have super-puppy endurance!

On her first day home, Donna’s family had a cute heart stuffy and sweater waiting for her – perfectly festive for Valentine’s Day. Her family says, “She is exactly what we needed to complete our family.” 💗

Donna was a very popular girl, and BTRC received many wonderful applications to adopt her. Unfortunately, as there was only one Donna, there was also bound to be disappointment. We appreciate each of you who considered adopting Donna and encourage you to keep an eye on our social media for future updates on other dogs available for adoption. Thank you for supporting rescue!

Our darling Donna is ready to find her happily-ever-after!

At 9 months, Donna is the epitome of boundless puppy energy, bundled up with a love of cuddles and a bright, inquisitive mind.

Typical for her age, she loves chasing, chewing, and playing with toys. High-energy, Donna finds excitement in everyday activities. But when playtime is over, you can find her snuggled up next to her humans or BT foster brother for a nap.

Donna enjoys walks – to the kitchen, that is. Food holds a special place in her heart, and being incredibly motivated by treats has helped with her training. Her time in foster care has been all about learning; leash, crate, and house training have been part of her curriculum, and Donna is an excellent student. She walks well on leash, with only an occasional pull when something she discovers is too exciting not to investigate. When she came into care, Donna was not potty trained, and she now lets her foster parents know when she needs to go outside.

Donna’s zeal for companionship knows no bounds, making parting ways a bit challenging. Though crate-trained, she barks when left alone, sometimes for extended periods. Donna thrives on being around others, so it will require patience and further training to build her comfort level and confidence when not in the presence of her humans.

Donna’s sociable nature extends to all—humans, children, and dogs are her instant pals. Cats might get a curious glance, but she respects their space. Donna gets excited when greeting people and has been known to jump on her humans, so dog-savvy children sturdy on their feet are best suited to Donna’s enthusiastic ways of playing and greeting.

Donna understands some basic commands, is microchipped, and has received all necessary vetting.

If you are looking for a wonderful mix of exuberance and affection and have the patience and willingness to positively guide Donna the rest of the way to adulthood, please complete the Adoption Form, found  HERE.

BTRC Donna is recovering well from her spay surgery. When she heard her foster parents say “donut” she was very excited. Confusion set in as a round-shaped cushion was placed around her neck. Where was her delicious treat? Her foster brother, BTRC alum Johnny, explained that sometimes words have two meanings and he also learned this after surgery. For him, the word “cone” didn’t mean ice cream. 😂

Donna has not skipped a beat since surgery. With her puppy energy in full swing, it’s hard to tell Donna that “calm” is what the doctor ordered. Her foster parents are disguising downtime as snuggle time, so Donna gets the R&R that was prescribed – just don’t tell her that. 😉

Donna is located in the Ottawa area. BTRC is not yet accepting applications for her adoption. When she is ready, we’ll announce it here and on our webpage.

Dear Santy Paws,

My name is Donna! My foster brother Johnny says that I don’t need to tell you my name because you already know it, but I just wanna make sure. This is my first Christmas, Santy, and I am soooo excited! Is it true that you come down our chimney in the middle of the night? It sounds like you might like to get into some mischief like me! I might be small, but oh boy, am I full of puppy energy.

I hope this letter finds you wagging with excitement because I’ve got a big wish list for my very first Christmas! First things first – toys! Lots and lots of toys. These fantastic things squeak and crinkle and are waiting to be shredded. You see, Santy, every part of me is full of energy – even my little teefs!

Next up, treats, treats, treats! Santy, if there’s one thing I can’t resist, it’s a yummy snack. Anything delicious and crunchy will make my bum wiggle like crazy. Oh, and cuddles! I love love love warm, fuzzy moments with my humans. If you could sprinkle some extra cuddles into my stocking, that would be pawsitively awesome.

Lots of puppy love and slobbery kisses,

Donna

Introducing Darling Donna!

7-month-old Donna recently joined BTRC because a member of her original family developed a severe allergy to pet dander.

Newly arrived, Donna is a sweet and curious pup who is quickly picking up on her new daily routine. One thing Donna is not a fan of is, however, is this thing her foster parents call “work.” Apparently because of “work,” her foster parents can’t play every minute of the day. Luckily for Donna, she has a BT foster brother who is happy to pick up the slack! 😉

We look forward to learning more about Donna as she continues to settle into her new environment.

Donna is being fostered in Ottawa, ON and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
