ADOPTED: Houdini

Houdini was adopted on July 29, 2020!

UPDATE – July 1

We all know Houdini, the famous magician, who could free himself from seemingly any situation. Well, like the famous showman, our Houdini was freed from a puppy mill, then a shelter – and her transformation into such an amazing little dog has been nothing short of magical to watch!

Thanks to her fantastic foster caregiver, Houdini is now far less fearful than when she arrived, and has learned it is safe to give her trust. Clever and adaptable, using her other senses, Houdini is learning basic commands through sign language and body cues.

It is said that deaf dogs hear with their hearts, and this is certainly true with Houdini, who is very generous with kisses and affection. She loves to go for walks and is the perfect passenger in the car.

Being deaf doesn’t hold Houdini back in the least. While her new family must consider she will always have some special needs to keep her happy, engaged and safe – we guarantee Houdini will enchant you!

Applications for Houdini are closed. Thank you to everyone who applied to adopt this sweet girl.

Ladies and gentlemen, another doggo has officially arrived in our care, please welcome Houdini!

Like Bacon, this little one came to us from a shelter in Quebec. What we know so far: she is 1 year old, deaf, very timid, and may have separation anxiety. Can you guess why she’s called Houdini? That’s right, she’s a crate escapist! For all these reasons, Houdini is staying with an experienced foster home to work with her and help her gain confidence.

She’s ok with cats and calm dogs, but is nervous with children. Poor Houdini was a puppy mill mama but she’s spayed now and a much better life awaits her.

Houdini just arrived to her foster home in Pembroke, Ontario and we’ll give you updates as we get to know her better and keep you posted on her progress.

NOTE: Houdini is not up for adoption yet and won’t be until she has been fully assessed. As soon as she’s ready, we will open up the applications and let everyone know on social media. Followers of this page will be the first to know!

A great way you can help us help our foster dogs and get them ready for their furever homes is by making a donation or becoming a monthly donor. We appreciate your support!
