Keynes Update April 2022
For the past four months, his foster family has been working with him to lessen, and manage, his troublesome behaviours and to reinforce his good ones. Though some may say Keynes still isn’t ‘perfect’, his foster family has decided that Keynes IS perfect –– for them!
In what we assume is in response to the loosening of Covid restrictions, and the arrival of summer when people want to travel, rescue is no longer seeing dozens of applications for available dogs. Dogs like Keynes, who need to be an only pet, aren’t attracting much adoption interest at all. So, this ‘foster fail’ is really a check in the great success column! After all, finding our foster dogs a loving family is what rescue is all about, and Keynes is now officially forever home. ❤️
Keynes Update March 2022
Foster boy Keynes continues to work on his training, despite what the picture may tell you (or perhaps because of it 😂). Actually, Keynes is a very good boy! His main issue remains reactivity to other dogs, and the goal now is to help him develop a more appropriate reaction when he spots other canines out on walks. Keeping expectations realistic, it’s doubtful that Keynes will ever be a true canine social butterfly, but with the help of his foster and his trainer, we’re optimistic walks with Keynes will become much more enjoyable.

To say it was a difficult decision to surrender Keynes to rescue would be an understatement. Keynes was a very loved family member. But sometimes the right thing to do is not the easy thing to do, and due primarily to the dynamic between the two dogs in the home, it became obvious that Keynes would be better off in a different environment.
Keynes (pronounced canes) has some anxiety, and his behaviour will need to be further assessed so a training /management plan can be put together. Right now, he’s decompressing and getting used to his new foster home.
We will keep you posted as we learn more about this handsome five-year-old boy, who is being fostered in the Metro-Vancouver area of BC, and is not yet ready for adoption.
