Monkey See, Monkey Do!

What’s in a name? Well, for BTRC foster Monkey, his name is quite frankly a perfect description of his personality! Monkey is a sweet, rambunctious little guy who came to rescue in late December. A quick learner with lots of love to give, Monkey has made amazing progress with his foster family and is now ready for his forever home.

Still under a year of age, Monkey continues to learn the basics but has shown how quickly he will adapt to new routines. He’s learned to walk on a harness and leash (although he still pulls so requires further practice with this). And while he has tons of energy, he doesn’t lack for curiosity and will stop and sniff his surroundings – so your walks may be just a little bit longer with Monkey! He doesn’t love being confined, but can be crated for short periods up to a couple of hours.

Monkey was not housebroken when he came into foster care; he continues to wear a belly band in the house, but is learning quickly that he must do his business outside. With continued rewards and positive reinforcement, Monkey will get this down in no time!

Fostered with two other Bostons from the start, Monkey has shown to be a great partner in crime with other dogs. Monkey would do well in a home with a canine pal, as long as they can keep up with him! Initially showing some signs of separation anxiety, Monkey has shown significant improvement with this, and is an all-around playful, energetic dog. In addition to being with other dogs, Monkey would also do very well in a home with children. He is not suited to a home with cats, however, as his preferred method of interaction with cats is to chase them.

Don’t be fooled by Monkey’s high energy level – he is a kisser and cuddler, too, and will accept all the attention you’re willing to give! He is a patient boy who loves being groomed – bathing, brushing and nail trims are no bother for Monkey. He is always excited to welcome people into the home, but doesn’t bark; instead, he runs to great old friends and new at the door. Monkey could live in a variety of home settings, if it provides the space to play, walk and participate in a great game of tug of war!

Monkey is a sweet boy, with lots of puppy energy and even more puppy love to give! His ideal home will be with an active family willing to continue on his training journey, to help Monkey be the best boy we know he can be.
