Sandy was adopted March 2, 2023

As sweet as candy, our Sandy!

His name may be Sandy, but his personality is sweet! Surrendered to BTRC this past December, Sandy is now ready for his forever home. Although still under a year of age, Sandy is a pretty laid-back dude. Described by his foster family as a kind dog, Sandy would fit right into a home where he gets lots of attention.

When Sandy first came to us, we knew he needed some training, but in a very short period, Sandy has learned to walk on leash, with his harness, and is gradually learning to heel. And while he is a confident boy, he is also loyal, and does not tend to wander far from his family. Sandy knows a good thing when he sees it!

Sandy is still working on his house training and wears a belly band while indoors. A good listener, Sandy is learning to do his business outside, and tries hard to please. It’s hard not to reward this sweet guy when he focuses on the task at paw. He doesn’t love his crate but can be crated for up to a couple of hours without too much stress. Because of his efforts to please, we know continued training for Sandy will be rewarding for both Sandy AND his forever family!

Sandy has been fostered with another one of our Alberta pups, but they are not being adopted out as a bonded pair. This is not, however, due to his interactions with other dogs; Sandy plays well with his canine pals and does not show aggression or jealousy with other dogs, even with toys, food or people. Sandy is also extremely gentle and is comfortable around children. He does not seem to be comfortable around cats, however, and tends to chase them – so a cat-free home is ideal for Sandy.

Sandy is a great balance of fun and sweet; he loves nothing better than a great game of tug of war, and playtime is his favourite thing – next to cuddles, snuggles and kisses! Sandy is a calm dog, has no issues with grooming, and likes to be with his people, so car rides are no problem for Sandy. His chill nature makes him an ideal dog for a variety of homes, as long as he has the space to get silly when playtime arises.

This beautiful little guy will steal your heart and will flourish in a home where he will get lots of love and attention.  If you think you have the right lifestyle and home that would be a good fit for Sandy, you can fill out an application form   HERE
