Sheena

In Memory of Sheena

Sheena, originally named Pearl, was born in rescue to a heavily pregnant Boston Terrier mom, who was saved at the last minute from a Quebec kill shelter. So we know with 100% certainty that her mom was a Boston, but DNA testing also revealed that her litter of mixed-breed pups had some Rhodesian Ridgeback and Newfoundlander in their ancestry. Sheena did share some physical characteristics with the Ridgeback, and her love of the water may well have come from her Newf genetics!

When she was old enough to leave her mom and her seven siblings, Sheena joined a foster family so that she could continue to receive treatment for demodectic mange, which, sadly, all the puppies had contracted from their mom. It was with her foster family that Sheena found her forever home, and where she grew to be a beautiful ‘tiger-striped’ brindle girl.

“The first thing that pops into my head when I think of Sheena is the presence she gave off,” her mom shares. We often called her the ‘police dog’…if any dogs got out of line or were too rambunctious, Sheena was there to put them back in line 😆.”

Like many dogs, Sheena was not a fan of fireworks or thunderstorms, but she also had a rather more unique fear of mosquitoes and anything buzzing around her face. She “would literally b-line into the house or cottage if she heard a mosquito anywhere near her!”

Sheena LOVED swimming. She would drop any bone or treat for a head of romaine lettuce 🤷🏼‍♀️. She loved her family, but she and her dad shared a special relationship. Mom says, “They had an unbreakable bond; even I was second fiddle when Matt was around.” Matt constantly referred to Sheena as “the daughter he never had.”

“She was a very special girl and we will always be thankful to you and BTRC for allowing us to foster and adopt the best lady ever.”

We are grateful for the love you gave her and the wonderful life you had of making memories together. Run free at the Bridge, Sheena. You will be remembered always. ❤️🌈
