Bébé was adopted November 11, 2022

A doubly happy adoption story…

First, we are very pleased to announce that Bébé has been adopted!

At a time when applications for all dogs are way down, and “honourary” Boston Terriers like Bébé and Shakira seem to have no interest at all, it was amazing to find the perfect home for this fine fellow.

And that’s where the second happy twist comes in. Of course, if foster caregivers didn’t love dogs, they wouldn’t be fostering. Falling a little bit in love with your foster is almost part of the job description. Which means saying goodbye isn’t always easy.

In this case, it was a member of their extended family who met Bébé and wanted to provide him with a wonderful forever home. That means for this foster volunteer it’s not goodbye at all – it’s see you soon. 😁❤️

Congratulations to all!

September Update

Bébé has been to the vet and is in good overall health, aside from needing to add a bit of weight. He is happy to oblige, especially when it includes delicious treats like carrots! At first, Bébé was a bit of a ‘hoover’ on walks, picking up and putting things in his mouth, but that is subsiding as he begins to trust that regular meals are on the menu.

Bébé is a very sweet and affectionate dog. He’s smart and learning new things every day! He can be a little nervous of new experiences and new people but looks to his person for guidance – if you are friendly with the ‘stranger’ then they will quickly become Bébé’s friend as well.

Handsome Bébé is going to make a wonderful companion for some lucky person!

Bienvenu Bébé!

A new arrival to BTRC, Bébé is a two-year-old Boston mix from a Quebec shelter. Abandoned by his owner, and with some health concerns, transfer to a rescue was the only lifesaving option for this 38 lb. mix.

As two of his medical issues are skin rash and diarrhea, we are wondering if food sensitivities may be partially to blame. Bébé will see a vet as soon as possible for a thorough exam. In the meantime, his foster is giving him time to acclimatize and get settled in.

Shelter dogs rarely come with histories, but one random bit of information: we have been told Bébé is not good with cats – but DOES do well with rats. 🐀🤷🏼‍♀️

Bébé is being fostered in the Niagara Region of Ontario and is not yet ready for adoption.
