ADOPTED: Pedro

Adopted August 5, 2015

As a distinguished member of the “Gray Muzzles” club, Pedro, the ever-so-elegant senior is the sweetest of Bostons, eager to please and eager to learn.

Although cautious in unfamiliar spaces due to his minimal vision (he has cataracts in both eyes), once he’s mastered his surroundings, he’s comfortable, confident, and curious as he sniffs happily about, exploring everything.

Peppy Pedro loves going for walks, and as a brisk walker, has learned not to pull quite so much on his leash. But to calm himself down first, he needs five to ten minutes of chewing on the Nylabone he loves almost as much as his walks. Under the eagle eye of his foster dad, spunky Pedro is safeguarded against bumping into posts, walls and fences, and because he’s fairly good with verbal commands, usually knows where to go based on the tug of his harness. Instruct him to stop at a street corner, and obedient Pedro promptly stops.

Friendly with people and good with other dogs, he’s understandably cautious when meeting them for the first time. An occasional barker, he saves his barks for a knock at the door, a ring of the doorbell, or the sound of other dogs barking in the distance. Then he’ll release what his amused foster dad calls one of his cute little wolf-howls.

Like all Bostons, Pedro loves finding a warm patch of sunlight in which to sleep during the day, and now that he’s used to his crate, he’ll often go into it on his own to nap while his foster dad’s home. Then, whenever his foster leaves the house, proactive Pedro wards off anxiety by bringing one of dad’s shoes into his crate and placing it on top of his blanket for company. But, of course, he much prefers cuddling on the couch with the “real deal” while his foster dad watches TV at night.

Well mannered and fully housetrained, he is most patient about waiting to be taken outside, and fully enjoys both his baths and being blown dry afterwards.

Clearly allergic to chicken and chicken-based products, he’s currently thriving on a fish-based diet supplemented by Omegas 3, 6, and 9 with his morning meal, and coconut oil with his evening meal to moisturize his sensitive skin and fur. After being so patiently and lovingly nurtured, trained and guided, plucky Pedro is now ready to find the patient, nurturing and loving home that’s meant to be his forever.
