IN MEMORY OF TROOPER GEORGIE
218 days. Plenty of time to forget what came before. To go from a nameless stray to member of a family, with not one but two names: Trooper Georgie.
Lots of time to know what it was like to be wanted, and important and cared for. And loved. Very much loved…
To get so excited for family adventures and daily walks and sunshine sleeps. For cuddles and pats and treats. To shake your head at the antics of your Boston Terrier little brother. Plenty of time for all of that and more.
But still, not enough time. No matter how many days, it’s never enough time.
RIP Trooper Georgie. Although technically TG remained a “foster” in our Set for Life program, he truly belonged to his amazing foster moms. They write:
“We feel so lucky to have had Georgie in our lives. He was such a sweet, gentle and loving dog. Despite everything he went through – he was such a “trooper”, and didn’t let his challenges stop him from enjoying life. He just wanted to be on the couch beside you and have his belly rubbed. But his most favourite thing was to go for walks. Rain or shine, snowstorms and -20, he was at the door always waiting and ready to go.
We will always remember all his funny little antics like loving to squish his face into the corner of the couch, or how he always wanted to be on top of the blanket rather than be covered. We’ll always remember his cute owl-like noises when it was time to go for a walk or how he would look at you, roll on his side and lift his paw indicating it was time for you to pet his chest.
He will forever be in our hearts. We love him so much. Thank you to BTRC for all the support and kindness during our first foster experience.”

A complicated surgery to remove an enormous mass from his rear leg was performed, and sadly, a biopsy confirmed the tumour malignant. TG has recovered well from this operation, but unfortunately, several new lumps have appeared since and are growing quickly. As a part of our Ana-Maria Davies Memorial Set for Life Program, BTRC has a palliative treatment plan in place to ensure this sweet boy has the best quality of life for as long as possible.
